Women in Logistics: A Conversation with Lauren George. Regional Manager / Account Executive

22 July 2025
With 16 years of experience across warehousing, operations, and transportation, Lauren George brings both resilience and strategic insight to her role at USKO. From her early days on the production side of logistics to managing high-volume customer accounts and leading operations teams, Lauren has built a career rooted in adaptability, precision, and trust. In this interview, she shares what drew her to the field, what kept her at USKO, and why building great teams matters as much as meeting KPIs.
What first drew you to logistics, and how did your path lead you to USKO?

  • I’ve always been curious about how things move; what’s behind the systems that make supply chains run. I started out in a warehouse, on the production side, and gradually moved into transportation, customer relations, and eventually operations management. I was looking for a company where I could continue to grow and contribute in meaningful ways. USKO stood out for its reputation in efficiency and innovation. But what really sealed it for me was the company’s clear commitment to both customers and employees.
What has kept you at USKO and what sets it apart in your eyes?

  • The pace is definitely fast, but there’s a strong sense of support and collaboration. It’s a team-first environment where people genuinely care about the work and each other. That balance of urgency and community makes the hard days worth it. You feel like you’re contributing to something that actually matters and that’s a big reason I’ve stayed.

What does your role look like today and how has it evolved since you started?

  • I manage major customer accounts, lead our operations team, and help drive strategic initiatives across the company. Since 2022, our division has handled around $25 million in freight, so naturally, the scope and pressure of my role have grown. The day-to-day involves balancing customer-facing responsibilities with team leadership, and constantly identifying ways to improve how we operate.

Logistics can be intense. What drives you and what are you most proud of professionally?

  • It’s definitely a demanding field. You have to make quick decisions, stay organized, and keep solving problems all day long. But that’s part of what motivates me. Every day presents new challenges, and I like knowing that the work we do has a real impact. I'm especially proud of how we’ve streamlined operations to improve delivery performance and strengthen customer relationships. The results we’ve achieved are a direct outcome of collaboration and smart execution.

Have there been people or moments at USKO that shaped how you lead today?

  • Absolutely. I’d say my entire team has shaped my leadership approach. We’ve built this division together from the ground up, navigating everything from tight capacity during peak seasons to operational bottlenecks. We learned to trust each other, stay flexible, and focus on solutions. That experience taught me that effective leadership isn’t just about oversight. It’s about showing up, listening, and building strong relationships inside the team.

What advice would you give to women entering logistics or pursuing leadership roles in the field?

  • This industry moves fast, and confidence tends to come after you take the leap, not before. So take the leap. Speak up, ask the questions, and raise your hand for the hard assignments. That’s where the learning happens. Also, build your network. Find people who will push you and support you, i.e., mentors, peers, managers. The most effective logistics professionals are rarely lone wolves; they’re collaborators. And finally, stay curious and stay steady. If you can think clearly under pressure and keep learning, you'll go far in this industry.
